| 6--Rationale: Salem State College, the graduate school, and all of its programs are accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE). In order to receive and maintain accreditation, each graduate program must offer courses that adhere to nationally-recognized standards and the college is required to demonstrate not only that these standards are included in the syllabi and are taught, but also that they are mastered by candidateS for the M. Ed. degree. The portfolio documents one's mastery of standards that are recognized and acknowledged by NCATE. |
