The PRE-PRACTICUM Requirement |
| Under current Technology in Education and M. Ed. policy, three 25-hour “pre-practicum” experiences are required for students who were admitted to the program as LICENSURE TRACK students. The pre-practicum requirement does not apply to students who are M.Ed. candidates (non-licensure) only. |
| For licensure-track students, The 75-hour total is spread out over three courses (25-hours each) in the M. Ed. program: |
|
EDU 787 -- Theories of Curriculum Design and Evaluation
EDU 788N -- Technology in 21st Century Classrooms |
|
Generally, the pre-practicum hours are
spent observing the professional activities and learning environment in
which a K-12 Instructional Technology Specialist operates. |
|
The 25 hours of observation may be
relatively easy or difficult to arrange, depending on the location,
restrictions, and hours of your current employment. |
| SAMPLE OBSERVATION REPORT: |

| Pre-practicum students are encouraged to make their observations in a variety of academic and demographic settings; that is, students should visit a diverse range of sites. The activities and observations included on the informal observation report will be integrated into the official Pre-practicum Documentation Form (see below): |
|
Before a candidate for MA certification
may participate in a practicum, she or he is required to document the
pre-practicum experience.
|
| Before you can apply to do a practicum, you must submit a documentation form for each of the three courses that include a pre-practicum experience. |
| Application forms must be obtained from the Office for Licensure in the Sullivan Building. Application forms for a spring practicum must be submitted in October; applications for a fall practicum should be submitted in April. |
